I’m a PC

So I gave the slightly-too-small “I’m a PC Shirt” a try last night and got some photographic evidence.

Looks like I was right, an XL just won’t cut it, I needed a version in BH.

I'm a PC, but looks like a muscle-top.

Confused Mac and Yet-to-be-warn I’m a PC Shirt

So I got my “I’m a PC Shirt” in the mail today.

Not sure if the shirt will be large enough for me to wear (I’m bloody huge, did you know?), but I’ll give it a shot this Friday and post a photo of the result.

In the mean time, we were looking for things to do with the stickers, and decided that this photo of a confused mac was a whole lot more humurous than it was in real life:

Happy New Year

Just a quick post to say happy new year (belatedly) and also to note that I haven’t forgotten about my series on Enterprise Application Search Systems and look to be making a new post on it very soon

Christmas Party Hellboy Costume

We had a wicked Christmas party this year themed, “The Garden of Good and Evil”.

I went as the ultimate dichotomy, Hellboy:

P.S. I made the costume myself.

So I iPhoned

I caved and got one. Will give it a few months before I consider going back to a more fuller featured phone.

The first app I installed was the worspress app that this post was made from.

New Mexican takeaway place at work

So this new mexican takeaway place opened up in the food court at Australia Square, Guzman Y Gomez.

It’s a little bit on the pricey side, but I’ve got to say it’s the best takeaway place I’ve ever eaten at in the CBD, defnintely the best take away mexican.

To iPhone or not to iPhone

So do I jump on board and take the crapy “iPhone only” plans that are being pushed by the Aussie telco’s with 3G iPhone’s at the moment just to get one as soon as possible, or do I stick it out and wait for the hype to die down and get a good phone on a good plan in about a month’s time?

Or do I even go the way of many a fellow geek and get one from the States and Jailbreak it?

What to do, what to do.

I’m still here

Just a quick post to say I’m still here.

Have gone through a rather difficult family experience in the past few weeks coupled with some incredibly hectic work loads at the office.

I’m still here and will continue to post where I can until i can get back to a normal work load. I also have an awesome new design for my blog that the Creative Director (no-less) at ninepxels, Joe Smith, put together for me, which I hope to be building using K2. I’m just waiting to actually get some time to implement the design.

On cognition and young minds

On this past Sunday I was putting my three year old on the toilet when he started pointing at my shirt spouting out the letters Y – E – E – K. I was wearing shirt that is a rip off of the “FCUK” shirts (picture to come), which has the word “GEEK” printed on the front. It was given to me as a farewell gift from one of the last few companies I worked at.

Anyway, I looked down at his fingers as he was saying “eeee” the second time, and he was pointing at the second “E” in “GEEK”. To my amazement he was identifying and saying each of the letters in the word on the front of my shirt. Now he confused the lower case “G” for a “Y”, but that’s an acceptable error.

The thing that freaked me out the most is that we haven’t been going through his letters with him lately. We read to him regularly, and he’s incredible at numbers, but we haven’t started focusing on letters yet.

He’s been spending way too much time with this toy for the past two weeks and it appears that he’s learned some of his letters largely from the letter games in this toy.

The cognitive process of the human mind is an incredible thing to watch developing.
