Heya i spent about an hour doing a little research on Processing 1.0Beta yesterday. Man can you do some funky stuff with it and chuck it into a browser. I downloaded the Processing 1.0 Beta libraries and the dev environment that comes with it. I paticularily looked into the image libraries and i have to say... f_kn amazing flash using only javascript!!! last nite i was thinking about what i could use it for and the amount of ideas that poped up where overwhelming. The broadness and focus of Processing is gonna change the way we do things on the web. (I personally think the same affect that jQuery - Javascrtipt library changed the world...or more AJAX i should say).

Check this out.. controlling a motor using Processing and pc user interaction.

Just a quick note that we just rolled out an update of the Hobnox Audiotool. As promised the TR808 is now online, along with two new stompboxes (Compressor and Bitcrusher) and some enhanced functions. Saving is still not possible yet, we’re working hard to make it happen for the next update.

Apparently it was meant to be retro-actively applied to all OS's as updates. I think that means all browser versions as well but cant be too sure.

In my experience, when looking to embed a html engine in a windows app adding a dependency on gtk+ is not a good idea. There are many, many cool windows gtk+ apps (I've used pidgin for a long time), but each one comes with it's own shipped version of gtk+ sometimes causing conflicts. A native win32 port also has the benefit of using native widgets in the form elements that will obey the user's desktop theme.

Well that's the big question that Mitchell Baker from Mozilla and/or the guys at silverlight have to answer as i dont have a great background on how firefox 3 renders its plugins nor how silverlight and flash are expected to instantiate.

But the fact that silverlight doesn't work straight out of the box, is just a turn off for me. If silverlight standalone isnt stable enough and also on IE7-8 browser, you cant really expect much from the guys at mozilla to fix the problem immediately.

Well from what i have read there is no "quick fix" as yet!

Hopefully this annoying issue thats currently lingering in the air gets fixed because i have seen what silverlight has to offer and it would be great to head down that path.

Till then lets lay silverlight to rest!

Do you need something that is only win32 or can it use Qt or Gtk on Windows? At least the Qt port on Windows is doing really well. Qt 4.4 includes a demo browser that you can play around with and look through the source. With a nice simple API (that isn't going to change) embedding WebKit with Qt on windows is easy. If you google for Qt demo browser you should get a bunch of hits.
